Free House MIDI Generator: Create & Export Piano Chords

HouseKeys lets you generate and preview piano-house chord ideas without paying. When you find one you want to keep, a free account unlocks five standard MIDI downloads.

What can you use for free?

You can open HouseKeys, choose any of the 12 keys, switch between major and minor, set a 4- or 8-bar length, change the tempo and adjust the generator controls without paying. Generating new chord ideas and previewing them in the browser are free.

When you want the editable file, create a free account. Each free account includes five MIDI exports in total and no payment card is required. The five-file allowance is not a monthly reset.

What is inside a HouseKeys MIDI download?

The export contains one piano-chord MIDI track with the notes, timing, velocities, tempo and chord markers used by the progression. It is not an audio file and does not contain the browser preview sound. It also does not include drums, bass or a melody.

Because the download is standard MIDI, you can import it into Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio and other MIDI-compatible DAWs, load your own instrument and continue editing the notes.

How to get useful results from a free MIDI generator

Do not judge an idea only from the default preview sound. Listen for the chord movement and rhythm, then imagine it with the piano, organ or synth you actually use. If a progression is close, edit it instead of endlessly generating alternatives.

A simple workflow is: choose the key, generate a four-bar idea, preview it, adjust syncopation or voicing, then export only when it is strong enough to try against your drums. This keeps the five free downloads for ideas you genuinely want to take into a project.

What happens after the five free downloads?

You can continue generating and previewing chord ideas for free. If you want unlimited MIDI exports, HouseKeys offers a £9.99 monthly subscription. Renewal can be cancelled online from your account through the self-service billing portal.

You can also keep working with every MIDI file you already downloaded. The exported notes are editable and can be used in your own music under the HouseKeys MIDI usage terms.
